Health & Safety
The health and safety of our campers is a number one priority. By keeping mature,
responsible and well trained staff in charge of camp activities, especially
on our waterfront and on our trips, we have maintained an exceptionally safe
camp. Rigid tests must be passed by every boy each summer in swimming and boating
in order to participate in waterfront activities.
We have a consulting physician who trains and supervises our nurses and sees our campers when necessary. We also have two nurses who live on campus in our Health Center. Our Health Center, new in 2002, is fully equipped and has comfortable, quiet rooms for campers who need to spend a night there. Porter Hospital in Middlebury is fifteen minutes away in case of emergencies.
In addition to getting refreshed in Lake Dunmore, boys are required to take showers a few times each week. Our bathroom facilities for campers have hot water and private shower stalls.
Our water, state-tested each year, comes from our own well.
Food
Fresh, healthy meals planned by a dietician include such favorites as spaghetti, pizza, tacos and roast turkey. Fruit is served every day and a salad bar is available at every dinner. Each week, wigwams have cookouts with hamburgers and hot dogs.
