Keewaydin Dunmore is one of the oldest and most venerable camps in the country, with roots tracing back to its founding as a canoe tripping camp in Maine. Established on beautiful Lake Dunmore in the Green Mountains of Vermont in 1910, Keewaydin has been at the forefront of American camping ever since. Campers return year after year for the magical Keewaydin experience. Indeed, it is not uncommon to find a Keewaydin camper whose grandfather was a former camper!
In 1982, Keewaydin became a not-for-profit camp with the creation of the Keewaydin Foundation. The Keewaydin Foundation owns and operates two other summer camps, Songadeewin of Keewaydin, also on Lake Dunmore, and Keewaydin Temagami, a wilderness canoe tripping camp for boys and girls in Ontario, Canada.
The inspiration for Keewaydin is the same now as when we began: to provide boys with summers filled with fun, adventures and challenges through our rich in-camp activity program, our wilderness trips, and simple living in the beautiful outdoors.
